Head gasket gone on a Pajero - how much?
My dad was thinking of trading in his J reg 3000 V6 petrol Pajero LWB Exceed.
85000 miles full history, was hoping for £2k but I thought that is optomistic.
Anyway the head gasket has just gone, his mechanic has quoted £1500 to do it!
I told him he could have a 2nd hand engine fitted for that but upon phoning round the 3.0 v6 is a very rare lump indeed.
As soon as its fixed he is going to get rid of it, what do you guys think is the best way of going about this?
At the prices he's getting its almost worth trading it in for £500 with the problem...

Ask here

Ive had a HG go on my old 3.0l SWB shogun. Brought an engine from API for £900. But, that needed work as it wasnt quite a good fit.
Ask the guys on there, tremendous knowledge pool

It won't just be the head gasket mate, it'll be a cracked head. Sorry, we've seen too many of them over the years. I reckon Mitsi make them pre-cracked and then run a sweepstake to see how long they last before they totally give up.

Usually the same side too - dizzy side if I remember correctly.
