Stay away unless thats really what you want - the performance is shall we say blunted by the tiptronic, thats why they are so cheaper than the manual

It doesn't carry for all models.
For example about 50% of 996TT's were made in tiptronic version. There is currently a shortage of manual models available and as such they carry a premium over tip's.
Depends what kind of driving the car is intended for - tip is essentially automatic through and through with a few more sensors to make the 'box have some artificial intelligence (eg hold the gear if it approaches a bend quickly etc..)

Thanks for the replies lads, but I think I'll scrub it. Been vacilating over rear wheel drive sports cars between 10-20k (S2 Elise, S2000, Boxster) since early summer and saw a nice, low mileage, mint 2.7 Boxster on Pistonheads. I recall Evo criticising the tip system, but thought I'd canvas a few independant, non-Porsche club views.
