I thought porsches were cheap to service?
Audi Q7 is gettin a either a 5.5/6.0/6.5 liter diesel V12 soon makin over 500hp and over 1000NM of torque
Infact all the germans are getting so good at making diesels that I belive in the next 10 years diesels will over far more performance than their petrol equivelants. Shame about the sound though

I went round Brands in a Cayenne pepper turbo. My thoughts after were:
a) Wow, how have they made such a big car so fast and fun on a track.
b) There is no point to this car at all.

Making a 2 ton 4x4 that has the capability of a sports car (eg able to lap Nordschleife as fast an e46 M3) will admittedly make it expensive to run.
For some a 4x4 with handling characteristics such as these is an ideal compromise - it can take 5 people and luggage in comfort. It can also be a rewarding drive.
If the world wasn't full of 'pointless cars' like these - it would be a terribly dull place.

So at least we know what would win there, and round a decent off road track.

What could..... ?
An RS6 - maybe but it would ultimately be inferior in many ways.
A Bentley Turbo maybe - but way more expensive and no good at the off-road stuff.
Anything else ?
Not sure there is another car that can do everything a Cayenne Turbo can do TBH - as JC said - a swiss army knife of performance cars. Its almost a supercar !
Not cheap - but quality never is.

The Cayenne is awesome in terms of engineering and it's capabilities..
But it's the sort of vehicle that announces to the world that you have..
a) too much money
b) absolutely no idea of style

I love the Cayenne turbo but would never buy one even if I had the money, I like the fact it exists and stuff like it means that while the green movement is chewing on them they kind of leave the stuff I aspire to alone.

No doubt they are fast, but for the sort of money they cost, and if I had that much money to spend on a SUV, I think I'd get a fully loaded Range Rover Sport in Black.
I'd then get it down to Kahn, and get their stage 2 kit put on it. New front & rear bumpers, bigger flaired wheel arches, new side skirts, and at least 22" Alloys.
Bit Blingy, but so **** !
Oh yes, it would be the V8 version.

Audi Q7: Another confirmation of the V12 6.0 TDI engine
For all of you out there who have to read it twice, we found another confirmation that the Audi Q7 is getting the V12 TDI engine from the Audi R10 race car.
This engine will make the Audi Q7 the second most powerful car in the world, just behind the Bugatti Veyron!
The article is also revealing some more facts.
- The fuel-injection system is working with a pressure of 2000 (!) bar and is completely new developed
- Average fuel consumption is estimated with 11.9 liters diesel (compared to 16 liters of a Porsche Cayenne V8)
- Extremely clean engine, fulfilling the pollution requirements of the Euro5 standard
