Default What fast cars have universal respect?

OK I got a Westfield (7 type one) and there seems to be 3 re-actions:
1) Wow, what is it? looks like a proper racecar (respect but don't know what it is.)
2) Cool, a proper drivers car ( wink wink nudge nudge, you know what it's all about that driving stuff)
3) Why it's impractical, noisy etc. (I'm stupid and not into cars at all, I don't understand)

What you don't get is people thinking
1) poseurs car
2) kid/boy/chav racer
3) oh it's just another car.

Are there any other cars that always fit all these criteria?

All I can think of is:
Caterfields (of course )
proper trackday cars used on road (atoms, XTR2, radicals etc.)
Morgans
tvrs
e-type
OLD ferraris, porkers, lambos

Obviously excludes all cars based on 'standard' saloons/hatches etc. neither are they cars that some people buy as a nice/flash car (most roadsters, supersaloons/hatches/estates, supercars etc.)

i.e. proper drivers cars that don't get peoples back up.

No car is the answer. There will always be someone that thinks it's too loud, too fast, too slow, too ugly, to flash, too expensive, too cheap, too this, too that.

Been driving Caterhams for the last 6 years and never yet had a bad word spoken about it. Most people have no idea what it is, or the fact that it goes like stink. Just get people coming upto me asking what it is and "is it a morgan".

Audi RS variants.

Never met anyone who thinks there posers car, Chav's cars, or just another car.

A RS4 gets respect, while a M3 is labeled Poser.

And Any Aston Martin

Always get people coming up to my m-coupe saying 'Wow, whats that?' or 'You don't see many of those'

And the best part is i never seem to get people trying to race you all the time, as i did in my old V5 Type-R!!!

Let me just say that they are fantastic cars but almost every one I seem to have seen on the road is driven by a mid-lifer, nonetheless I do respect them for their capabilities though I don't long to own one as I do a 911 Turbo. A 911 Turbo well looked after shouts respect, yes 911s are generally a bit poseur but if someone is prepared to pay all that extra £££ to get the turbo then to me they are a serious driver.

Hold on a minute. I don't look at a Westfield owner and think 'cool proper drivers car' I think if you were going to buy a noisy deathtrap for the road why didn't you get the best one and buy a Caterham

If you thought of it as a "noisy death trap for the road" then it's fairly unlikely you'd know the difference between a caterham and a westfield was anyway If, on the off chance, you did know what was what then you'd think "hey, proper drivers car without paying all the extra just for the '7' badge"

My RS6 has had the best reaction of any car I've owned, from chavs, white van man, drivers of other fast cars, or middle aged execs. It's a big plus to the ownership in my book.

Arguably, (new RS4 excepted, possibly) real enthusiasts just say "why????" when there are a number of better driving performance saloons out there than any performance Audi, new or old.

I'd alo wager that a 911 turbo with light "gravel rash" to the front and sides, un kerbed but lightly coated in brake dust rims, and sports seats trimmed in anything but slippery leather shouts respect, as it is clearly being driven in the manner its maker intended.
