X-type Jaguar 3.0 V6 or Legacy H6 3.0 - TURBO
Both the above could be interesting to turbocharge as both have ample sized engines and AWD.
Noble have turbocharged a Mondeo V6, is this the same unit in the Jag? X-types are very cheap...
There is thread on NASIOC with a built H6 3.0 fitted to an STI and turbocharged.
Cranks tend to be strong, NA cylinder heads often work well with turbos, both would need a set of rods and low compression pistons.
Audi seem to be sorting their handling, but are throwing away the turbos on the 6+ cylinder petrol engines
Maybe silly ideas, but people do madder things to their Subarus...
Comfort, stealth, speed, could be nice packages?

Oi...H6 turbo was my idea.
Well, ok My idea was a Supercharged H6
Wonder if it could be bored out to accept 92mm pistons, presuming they would fit the stock rods.

That is a shame re the X-type.
At least on the Legacy we have easy ECU reflashes, and some Impreza tuning goodies would fit. The Spec B has Bilsteins and strong six speed gearbox. Would need brakes upgrading.

I'd agree about the Jag comment, the 4X4 running gear seems to kill the Mondeo's sharp chassis response and steering feel.
The Jag and Mondeo V6's are different as well but I think it's mainly the heads, intake and engine management.
Cheers

I've mentioned about driving the X-type before, I said "meh". It didn't give me any inspiration or motivation at all. It's comfy and handles ok, with lots of traction, but that's about it.
The x-type engine makes all the right noises (only inside though - they sound awful outside - thanks to the raspy exhaust and rattly heat shields). Smooth and nice powerband, if a little gutless on low-end torque. And it needs winding up to get it going. The basic engine is mondeo, but as said the heads gained variable valve timing, amongst other things (although, does the ST24 have this now? ).
The driving expreience and dynamics IMO has been doctored too much by know it all chassis tuning engineers bowing to the **** blitherings of upper managment's wishes to make it "feel like a jag" - probably an American.
Consequently it has spongy wooly brakes, over-assisted and detached steering with little feedback, and a soft dampening (non sports) and a sloppy gearchange.
Funny, as old XJs, never had spongy or wooly brakes (unless knackered) until later years. And the old PAS feel and feedback was due to the lack of investment in refining it, and using sloppy rubber mounts. But for some reason, Jag execs took this as the ingredients to make a new Jag
And X-type ergonomics aren't good...who on earth decided to but the climate controls where you can't see it?
Never driven a H6, but have took common garden 4pot n/a leggy for a spin which was nicer to drive than the X. It just lacked the luxuary and toys of the upper models.

Thats the 1st mod for you John:
Off to a scrap yard to get the master cylinder/servo off a 1.8LX mondeo
Anyhoo, I thought the 1.8 had drums on the back?

Servo's do differ depending if the cars fitted with no EBA, mechanical EBA or full IVD with ESP and electronic EBA.
