Seat Leon 1.8 20v Cupra
Possibly looking at one of these on a 01/02 plate so it will be the old shape/spec
What sort of realistic mpg can I expect, It will be 95% town driving
Thanks

I had a subaru (UK97) turbo estate and p/x'd it for a cupra on a 51 plate (feb 02). Had it 3 weeks and swapped it for a subaru saloon. Sub does 110 miles on £20, cupra does 130.

I have an 02 Cupra, but the missus drives it so can't tell you exact figures.
Better than the scoob, but that does about 17mpg around town.
Low 20s I would say, and she does 95% town driving.

I p/exd my '98 Turbo PPP for a new Seat Leon Cupra back in 2001. Kept it 9 months/12K miles. Apart from it being the most unreliable car I've ever owned, it only saved about £12 a week over the Scoob - that was fuel and insurance. The 10K service cost more than the 10K on the new 02 WRX PPP that replaced it. Awful car.

My experience couldn't be more different.
However this applies to the 225 BHP Cupra R and not the 180 Cupra.
Bought a new 04 Cupra R and kept it for 1 year and 32,000 miles.
It didn't miss a beat and I toured Europe about three times in that year.
The servicing costs weren't expensive and fuel economy was good (between 28 and 33 mpg normally.)
Handled ok until near its max then it got a bit frisky.
Excellent car.Recommended.

My remapped Octavia vRS (basically same engine) will go a good 20+ mpg in traffic. My 5 mile to work commute consisting of a third 30 mph, a third 60 mph and a third 50 mph returns over 30 mpg average on the trip computer.

I've got a 225BHP Cupra R and its not a patch on my 246BHP MY00 UK Scoob regarding handling although Scoob has Whiteline rear ARB, droplinks, ALK, Bumpsteer.
Alot of this is to do with the Pirellis fitted on LCR from new apparently. Goodyears make a massive differance.
Acceleration is very deceptive cause LCR doesn't make alot of noise.
Daily drive is almost all motorway with about 5 miles of B roads. Scoob does 21mpg, LCR does 28mpg.
Cheers
