I used to own a 16 valve integrale. It was a great car to drive and it was great fun but I'd never own another. The electrics on them were a pain, you had to repeatedly clean all of the earth points Left hand drive felt good though

I had an 8 valve Integrale.
I can only echo what Paul says.
Fantastic car when it's running perfect - complete pain in the neck otherwise.
Electrically speaking it was a turd.
Handling wise it was sublime on the right roads with sharp turn in and great poise but like many 4wd cars mine did have a fair bit of understeer if you got it wrong.
Would have another in a flash if I could afford a late EVO model as a 2nd car.

Paul, you big woman! I had to have the fusebox on my HPE VX sandblasted twice! Cleaning the odd earth contact is nothing.....

lol Unbolting the earth point from behind the offside headlight and cleaning it up was a regular thing.

They're great cars, but i got fed up with the constant maintenance. I was actually disappointed when i bought my classic impreza. Wouldn't have another one though.

Used to pass walkers in S otteringtin when I was working up there and always wanted one, Never knew the value of these things till I stopped one day and say a price ticket of £14995 on one. If I had the cash I would get one without a doubt just its a lot of ££££ for such an old car

I've had my Evo 1 for five years now, done numerous trackdays, Ring etc and never had any real problems. It is as fantastic now as it ever was and stands out more and more with every year that goes by. I still maintain it is one of the fastest point-to-point cars you can buy. More recent Jap stuff may go faster, but nothing has the same blend of power, performance and driver feedback as a Grale.

BUT, this is not a Jap rally rep or a hot hatch. It is a genuine Italian supercar and needs to be treated as such. Preventative maintenance is the key, and lots of it. Budget for at least £2000 a year. You CANNOT run these cars on the cheap. They will bite you on the @rse. But a good one is never going to lose you money and prices are going up already. And just ask yourself why such an old car still commands such high prices.

It is the only car I ever wanted and I will never ever sell it.

Rob

Holds a special place in my heart from seeing them in the early 90s.

Would definatley get a place in the mythical lottery winning barn of cars . A long with some bloke to spend his days cleaning the electrics by the sound of it
