Default Porsche Cayenne Turbo?

What are these like? Anyone driven one? Especially interested in handling. Does it handle the way it looks?

thirsty as ****...........
Great handling considering size/weight. Remember they can lap Nordschleife as quickly as an M3.

Problems are......

- depreciation nightmare - about to get worse with the facelift later this year/early next
- If driven with zest they eat tyres and they cost ££££
- Thirsty - VERY thirsty circa 12-15mpg
- Needs to be under warranty - electrics via optical cable can present problems if anything goes wrong
- questionable looks - unless techart'd up to the hilt (IMHO)

Yup, my mum and dad had my sister and I in a mini! They also had to wash nappies and I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to go back to that!

However, I'm looking to up-size our A3 as 5 doors would be better than 3. A Cayenne is a bit out of my league in terms of cost and taste

What exactly is your problem then AL? As Steve said I'm not living in the 1970s am I ? At that time I was sleeping next to my dads cows in a mud hut somewhere in north India. Maybe I should sling my baby into the back garden then??

I take it then that a horse and cart satisfies your own vehicular requirements, you cook over an open fire, wash your clothes in a dolly tub, and have a bath in an old tin tub in front of the fireplace?

if I was looking to get a new car becaause of the arrival of a newborn a cayenne wouldnt make the list. Its a pointless vehicle, and the only reason why porsche makes the cayenne and bmw the x5 etc is because theyre major cash cows brought by *****.

I hate SUV's and I hate yank mobiles. Go buy a RS6.

You are not thinking practical.

A big car, isn't necessarily practical or accommodating for children. A Fiat Multipla is the most practical car money can buy for a young family.

BTW Deep, if you haven't followed it the RS6 has a lot of fans on this board, despite what the car mags say about it being not as good as an M5. On the contrary, the Cayenne hasn't had a very good press from owners/drivers - I think it was Olly who gave a long list of reasons to hate them.

For praciticality with a family you can't beat cars like the Ford S-Max, Renault Scenic, Toyota Verso etc, none of the premium brands really have anything in comparison.

However if you want the image and performance then a 5 series touring can't be beat as a family car. 535d or 550i M Sport versions. Much better drivers cars than Audis, which I think have many fans on this site purely because of some people are a bit **** about having 4wd.

Cayenne is just vulgar, real Porsche drivers hate you, non-Porsche drivers hate you and you just look a wnaker driving one in Britain.

Actually, real porsche drivers love you because the Cayenne has been a massive sales success for Porsche with all the advantages that brings for the 997/Cayman/Boxter owners.

And arguably, only non porsche drivers with large ego's, small penises and all of the related jealously issues that brings hate you.

You know, as time goes on, If I had the money I'd buy a Cayenne and an X5 for the sole purpose of winding people like you up

What is it with some people....

Good call on the ax, but the point of the UK turbo is what exactly?

You don't need 4wd for the road, you don't need 215 (+) BHP when the maximum speed limit is 70 Mph (or whatever it is anywhere but the Isle of Man or Germany) and you certainly don't need emissions as bad as the Scooby gives you.

But the point is, none of that matters because its YOUR choice and your right to drive what YOU want without someone giving you a hard time for it, for some reason or another.

It would run rings around a cayenne for around the same economy, whilst not being a ugly POS.

do you really thing the the average non cayenne driver could give a toss about the amount of money the cayenne has brought porsche, and how they supposedly benifit from it

As far as the avaergae 911 driver is concerned is that the cayenne dilutes the brand image.

The scooby is for fun, it achieves the purpose, for all you know he tracks it. Hence it not being pointless, unless you consider sex to be pointless except when trying to concieve.

It's called having a brain I suppose. The other point I forgot to mention is that I've yet to see a Cayenne being driven by a male.

And I'm not sure what the motive behind buying them to wind people like me up, I don't give a toss about the environment, it's just ridiculous around schools in London near where I live (St Johns Wood, Hampstead) with all the huge 4wds everywhere with astonishingly rude mothers.
