Oops I was wrong its not the the WRC car, its only the Super 2000 car....

PEUGEOT 207 SUPER 2000 BREAKS COVER
New Peugeot 207 Super 2000 Rally Car starts testing
207 Super 2000 follows in the footsteps of the 205 T16 and 206 WRC

The Peugeot 207 RCup Concept Car presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March gave clues to the future 207 Super 2000.

Now the next Peugeot Rally Car has completed its initial development stages on both loose and tarmac surfaces.

On 16 May, the 207 Super 2000 fired into life for the first time, watched by Bruno Famin, Technical Manager of Peugeot Sport and Bertrand Vallat, Project Manager for the 207 Super 2000. It now follows in the footsteps of the other great Peugeot Rally cars of old, such as the 205 T16 and the all conquering 206 WRC, winner of three world rally championships and a total of 65 podiums.

The car then immediately started a series of tests on both loose surface and then on tarmac. The drivers entrusted with the development of the car are Bryan Bouffier, Sebastian Lindholm and Gilles Panizzi.

Bertrand Vallat, Project Manager, commented: “To start with on the loose surface, the 207 Super 2000 showed a good level of reliability which was confirmed again on tarmac some weeks later. We are only at the initial stages of development but all the test drivers who have followed each other behind the wheel of the car have been satisfied with both the handling and performance.”

The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 will be available for customers to campaign in national championships.

The 207 GTI will probably only have about 180-190BHP. Just guessing.

Peugeot have really missed the boat IMO. When they were winning everything in the WRC, they could have built a 206 GTI WRC for the road. Maybe 240BHP, AWD, etc, But no.
Just like Ford don't/didn't make the Focus RS with 4wd.

Thank god for Subaru and Mitsubishi for actually producing cars that people can relate to between road and WRC Cars.

stilover, how much money do you think they would make from a limited edition and essentially low volume wrc replica?

peugeot have not missed the boat. When they sell things like this, they do it for a little publicity, not for profit. The 206 was the best selling car 18 months ago. Doesn't sound like they missed any boat that was important to them!

PEUGEOT ANNOUNCES PRICES FOR NEW
207 GT TURBO

Available November 2006
First 207 model to use the Peugeot / BMW 1.6 turbo charged engine
3 door model in GT trim only
£14,345 on the road

Peugeot announces the price of the newest addition to the exciting 207 range, the 207 GT 1.6 Turbo.

The 207 GT 1.6 Turbo is the first model in the 207 range to be fitted with one of the Peugeot / BMW developed 1.6 petrol engines.

The engine in the 207 GT 1.6 Turbo is the 1.6 litre turbo charged direct injection petrol engine, producing 150 bhp at 5800 rpm and 180 lb ft of torque at only 1400 rpm.

Available as a 3 door model and in GT trim only, the 207 GT 1.6 Turbo will have a comprehensive specification including: six airbags, ABS, EBFD, EBA, ESP, tyre pressure sensors, two Isofix three-point rear child seat mountings, electric windows, Thatcham class 1 alarm / deadlocks, automatic static directional headlamps and wipers, dual zone climate control air conditioning, panoramic “Cielo” glass roof with sunblind, 17” alloy wheels, steering column adjustable for reach and rake, height adjustable driver and passenger seats and half leather trim.

Not since the legendary Peugeot 205 T16 has Peugeot produced a petrol turbo charged supermini, but the story does not stop here, as next year will see the launch of a more powerful turbo charged 207!

The New Peugeot 207 GT 1.6 Turbo will go on sale in the UK in November 2006, priced at only £14,345 on-the-road.

0-62mph in 8.7secs, no top speed released yet.

The 206 GTI came in for soo much critisism though. Underpowered, and lacked the handling/fun factor of the 205GTI, 106GTI, and 306GTI.
Before Peugeot were the Hot Hatch to have, now because the 206GTI was such a let down, Renault have taken that crown. Just look at the versions of Clio's that have been out recently 172, 172 cup, 182, 182 cup, Trophy.
Peugeot have been left trailing. I hardly ever see a 206GTI on the roads. The 206 was a very good seller for Peugeot. Mostly mundane versions though. They did produce a WRC Look alike, sort of. Same power as the normal GTI though.
Why would a 206/207 GTI WRC have to be limited? The Sierra / Escort Cosworth's wern't limited, and they sold quite well for Ford.

That what annoys me with Lotus. People say the cars need more power, so they then produce a higher powered car, and it gets reviewed by car mags. They then say it's only to be produced in limited numbers (say 50) and all have been sold???? Produce the higher powered car in unlimited numbers, and most customers will go for that one.

If peugeot produced say a 250/270BHP 4WD 207 GTI, they would probably sell every single one they could produce. Unless it was stupidly priced of course.

Pug have pulled out of making hot versions - they still don't believe the market is there or worth it so I wouldn't expect to see anything exciting for some time.

Same as Ford. they canned the Fiesta RS, as they said there was no market for a 200BHP Supermini ????? Step forward Clio 197, Corsa VXR, and probably new Mini Cooper S.
They said there was no market for a Focus RS with 250-300BHP 4WD. They must be right. You never see any Impreza's or Evo's on our roads, do you

No wonder Ford are in trouble.

Biggest shame regarding Peugeot, is that there is no replacement for the 106GTI. The best handling car, most Fun car I've ever owned.
