Toyota mr2 -mk2 ??
Whilst browsing the local auto trade recently I notice that the prices off older toyota mr2`s are dropping very low now - 1.5k etc so okay some off the early mk2`s are comming on for 16 + years old now but must admitt they still look a great fun car to drive.
anyone here own own /owned one advise me on just what to look out for when buying one off these 1.5k priced cars ?? being toyota surely the engines are very reliable ?? rust a problem on this era off toyota ?? insurance friendly enough ??
cheers

Great cars. They are a little heavy for a two seater so the non-turbos aren't massively fast but still fairly quick with around 7.2 secs to 60 for the 1989-1992 car and 7.7secs for the 1993-1999 cars (which has a higher output engine weirdly).
They are really good looking cars if looked after well, and stick to the road like glue. If you do push it to far though expect to get a nasty tail out experience that is almost uncontrollable and will end with a spin - but only if you lift off through fear.
~No rust issues and reliable as any toyota can be.
Nice interior - get the full leather, or perhaps the suede/lether seats.
The turbos are very quick. 5.5 secs to 60 for early models

Go for a rev 3 turbo.
I can't be arsed waxing lyrical about them as have done it before.
Do a search on here and you'll get much of the knowledge you require if you want one.
