Best Aircon ?

Best Aircon ?
What cars have the most effective aircon, our Sharan has it and it does cool but I remember cars in the states having it so cold you cant keep your hand in front of the vent !
My Saab doesnt have it, so turbo engine + 32 degree heat = unbearable, my brother in laws one has it but its not that great. Had an old Audi 100 years ago and that had it, bloody chilly when it worked but it just got rid of the gas inside six months.

Audi's seem to be one of the best around. My old man's had Audi's for years now, and after justa few minutes, your shivering.
My Impreza's on the other hand is cr@p. Barely gets you cold.
Renaults are the worst I've been in. Still sweating with it on full blast

You guys are depressing me now! I was thinking yesterday how much better the system in my E46 3-series was compared to my previous two Imprezas, but it certainly wasn't making the car 'cold' within a couple of minutes. With it on full blast it was certainly nice, but never in any danger of being described as over-powered.
Seems I have a knack for picking systems that aren't very good... maybe it just needs a re-gas? The car's less than two years old, though.

Imprezas are pretty poor on that front I reckon. My Jag is so-so: very very cold, but could be quicker to get there. But it's ten years old, so I don't think that's too bad.

My Scoob Air Con was lovely and cold, too cold most of the time, so much that I had to keep turning it right down

yeah, true enough I have actually heard that somewhere else.
Preferred the Impreza in that it was semi-auto and not crummy Climate control which takes the ability to turn it off away.

I hate the heat and have had air-con on my last 5 cars. I have always found it cold enough in fact I normally only have to switch it on for a few mins and then turn it off its that cold and efficient.
From my experience I have always found air-con very effective, didn't realise on some cars its ****e
Just must have been lucky I guess.

Only noticed today that the radiator fan comes in and out with the air-con to keep it nice and cool (at least it does when at stand still.)Quite impressed with how cold mine was today tbh (04 WRX)

My Seat Leon Cupra is much, much better/colder (digital climate) than my MY00 Impreza which has just been regassed.
Set it to 18 deg c, on Auto and leave it. Soon icy.
My Impreza today, had to leave the fan on 3. 2 and 1 were not cold enough.

They use pretty much the best (brand) aircon compressors available (whereas VW's use cheaper brands - one of the little differences between VW and Audi - you dont JUST pay for the badge!)

Just a few cars I can think of.
Old shape Octavia, not bad but took a bit of time to cool.
Focus, felt ice cold from vents but didn't cool the interior.
Alfa 156 totaly crap.
Scooby classic, only slightly better than the Alfa.
Fabia, good but takes time to cool interior.
New Fiesta, slightly better than Fabia.
Last E Class - excellent
Last 5 series - excellent
Old Mondeo - fair
New Mondeo - Very Good.
New A4 - Very Good.
X type - see Mondeo.
By far the best and quickest I've felt is, suprisingly, a Rover 75.
Cheers

My Forester is good, only need to keep it on the low setting if the car has not been in the sun. No problems, but then the car's done less than 20,000 miles and is less than 3 years old. My previous car a Mitsi VR4 was equally as good.
I think generally Jap and yank cars a/c seems to be more hardy than Euro cars.

Remember guys, airc-con is for comfort, its not supposed to be like a fridge, in fact it isn't a good idea to be driving around in an ice box then getting out into warm temps outside, used to get warned of this regularly when abroad with the truck, as a lot of older boys would get out and drop like stones.
Although must admit the scoob isn't as cold as my brothers BMW!

have to admit I did this by accident the other week - got to work, opened the door and nearly passed out.
DIdn't have the temp set low, but still came as a shock when I opened the door
