Had a few Cortina's. First was a MkIV 1.6GL saloon in red (YDJ 415T, the only reg I can remember), then a MkIV 1.6L estate in white, then my last one was a blue MkV 2.3 Ghia which gained a 2.8 from my mate's Capri Injection when it got hit up the rear. Happy days.

You say that now, but I guarantee that when you're 80 and you see a 1995 Mondeo go past, it'll make you smile just as much as seeing a Ferrari 250GTO.

People forget about the mundane stuff. How many Cortina's got scrapped because they were considered bangers? Yet these cars were the most popular car in the country and we need people to keep the last ones going for the sake of our own individual memories.

Indeed, it's like my mate had a Standard flying 8. Common as muck in its day before WWII and nothing special.

I've ever seen one in this century - and that was his!
