Default Minor problem with my Audi A6

Have a 2000 Audi A6 2.4 Quattro auto, 53k miles. Lovely motor, nothing wrong with it at all apart from one thing.

It doesn't idle properly. It 'pulses', i.e keeps flutuating between 600 and 800 rpm at standstall. Not so bad when warmed up although just after starting it, warm or cold, it happens.

Any ideas? I've tried some injector cleaner that you put in your fuel but no joy.

Could be a multitude of different items and or faults, a couple that spring to mind are:-

MAF mass air flow sensor / meter

Idle speed control valve

Crank speed sensor

Split and or blocked vacum pipe

Air temp sensor

etc etc etc

Sorry not much help i know, have you had a look on any audi forums? As with scoobs their may be a common fault that causes the fault.

Have you got vag-com? Plugging that in and pulling off any fault codes should let you know if theres a problem anywhere.

You can get the cables pretty cheaply off ebay - well worth having.
