Recommendations for sporty soft top for 6'4" 17 stone driver
A mate is looking for another car £5 to £6k - wants another sporty soft top. He used to have a MGF: Quote...
Anyway some of you tall chaps must have some experience here...
I can't really help - only 6' 2" and 15 stone - and NEVER driven a soft top car
Cheers
Mick
- MGs They aren't the greatest cars to drive when
pushed too hard. Great for a first time car or one to
go to collect a newspaper in but not great on a
motorway, nearly got blown of the road a few times. At
90mph+ the front would even lift and you lost grip,
real scarey. Fun but concentration required and nerves
of windy steel.

Tried a Mazda MX5 couldn't even get in it, left half
in and half out.
So help the man out 6' 4" tall and 17 stone - muscle he tells me in and half out.

I'm 6ft 4 and 15/16 stone. I used to fit in my old Honda S2000 ok. You have to play around with the seat to get it just right.
Anyway, everyone is different, long legs short body, med both or short legs long body etc. so the only way you'll find out is to sit in some. Make sure you really play with the seat arrangement. i.e. seat forward lean back, seat back and upright etc.

He'll fit in an S2000 but 5-6k aint quite close enough, they seem to be starting to appear under the 10k bracket although look out for CAT-Ds.
S1 Elises are not far off the same money and a Cappuccino is roomier than it looks and around 3-4k and great fun but will struggle to lug his lardy I mean muscular frame around at any pace.
lol@logbrog - You have issues!

Why is everyone going on about Elise's etc when the budget is £5-6k
Mk2 MR2 Turbo is the one to go for - brilliant driving position for the taller/wider gentlemen such as myself Plenty of legroom and width for elbows etc.
Great car to drive, reliable etc, but they also suffer from lift on the motorway - easily solved with some mudflap type things that sit under the front

Coming to this topic a bit late in the day, but I'm 6'6" and can quite happily drive my wife's MR2 Roadster. My legs are a little squashed either side of the steering wheel, but no worse than in some other, bigger cars I've driven. With the hard top on, I'm actually quite comfortable. The soft top restricts things a bit more, but I can still happily fit in it. I'm actually very fond of it...
