Default Merc CLS

Anyone else get a special feeling when they see one of these babies, its amazing because Mercs usually dont do it for me at all, wrong on so many levels and the CLS has that as well but oh my god that shape, I tell myself its just an E class with haircut but it doesnt work, I want one !

Yep, I fully understand what you mean. They do look good, but seem even better when you sit in them. The best bit is that I get to work on them.

OTOH my dad has an E class and hates the look of them?

My next door neighbour had a visitor with one of these today, and my god does it have presence. My other neighbours have a BMW M5 and it doesnt have half the presence of the CLS.

Hmm, bit of a 'Marmite car' perhaps, I quite like the Megane as well, saw a Sport cup in an orange colour last week and it was stunning.

So, 'Scumbag, what in your eyes makes a good looking car ?

I think these look like a £100k+ car... if I ever need a 'comfort' car in a few years a used one of these with the V6 would do nicely!

The AMG one looks the part. Saw a few of them in the US last week. Saw a white AMG one which was actually nicer than it sounds.. If a bit "bling".. I'd take an M5 over one of these though..

I'm actually trying to talk my old man (lives in the US) into getting a new M5 (in white too funnily enough, just to be different).

Agreed.

I'm not a fan of M.B's, but I'd make the exception this time

TBH the shape is growing on me.BUT......... The sound of the 55 AMG is truly astonishing. My mate has one(after a Fez 360 Modena and really rates it at what it does.

AMG in black looks ace. A recent article in ? Evo put it a very close second to the M5 in terms of performance handling and obviously miles ahead for refinement/comfort

Wish I could put my finger on on it. I dont know. There really arent many cars that make me recoil - Megane, Multipla, Vel Satis...something just looks wrong.

CLS obviously has lots of fans...to be honest it is one of those cars that, until I read this thread, was gobsmacked anyone could make it, let alone sell any, as everyone must think it is just awful...well, beauty must truly be in the eye of the beholder.

The main problem I have is the ****...seems to be completely out of proportion...maybe I just dont buy big 4 door cars being given the look of a coupe...looks like Jo Brand has sat on the back, then to even it up got her to lean on the front too.

That said it doesnt look as bad in the silver in that piccie as it does in black !

Then again I love the TVR Griffith's ****, so what do I know

I think it looks better as a shooting brake - in the flesh- pics don't really work for it.

Did look at buying one a while back, but couln't find a used one in the right spec and colour (they are nearly all silver or black with black interior zzzzz and missing some essential extras; probably ex-lease/company car hence the dull specs). Its a huge car as well...makes the 5series GT look small - and that gobbles up an entire 4 post ramp - length and width!
