New Polo GTI
I don't believe there has been a thread about this car yet ? TBH, I didn't know they existed until I saw one this afternoon.

So, the facts.
From £14800.
1.8t FWD 150ps.
0-60 = 8.2
MAX = 134.
35.8 mpg
Kerb weight = 1190kg's
Civic Type R = £81 / bhp
Clio 197 = £81 / bhp
Peugeot 206 180 = £85.66 / bhp
Fiesta ST = £90.63
Skoda Fabia vRS = £92.31
Polo GTI = 98.66 / bhp
IMO. It appears initially quite expensive. The engine is potent enough though but it does carry some weight. I like the interior, it does look like a quality car, but very much a grown ups hot [warm] hatch I think. It is a lot of money for what it is, but typically I imagine it will hold it's money well.
Anyone had a sniff ?

I have found the following info:
Jabba Stage 3 IHI (£5000)
Pace Charge cooler (£500)
Jetex Exhaust Sytem (£400
Jabba Induction Kit (£200)
Brembo 4pot Brakes (£550)
H&R Coilover Suspension (£800)
Uprated helix clutch and flywheel (£600)
SUB TOTAL = £8050
Optional
Comp MO alloys & Tyres (£1200),
Aquamist/methanol injection (£300)
Pelequin Diff and recon Box (£1300)
B&M Short Shift (£130)
SUB TOTAL = £2930
Total = £22’850.00
With options = £25’780.00
Over 300 WHP - 0-60 mid 5's 0-100 about 11secs
The BBR Mini Cooper 300T is £17’950.00 + car @ £13’200.00 I think ? So that is £31’150.00 for a similar performing package ?
Not bad value if you do it that way ?
That means you pay £75.82 / bhp - which is nice

I've got a mate who works for a VW dealership, this is going to be his next company car, takes delivery this week or next so no doubt i'll take a drive and see how it goes.
The engine is the same 1.8T that VAG have been using for some time i'm informed.
For me it's too much money for what it is which is a small hatchback, along the lines of the Fiesta.
Given that Civic type R's and The Focus ST starts at only a couple thousand more. I'm sure it will be a very nice car but it won't sell in big numbers.
I also drove the Polo GT with the TDi 130 bhp engine in it, and that would seem a better buy on paper to me, but again probably too expensive

There's a black one at my local dealer. I have to say I think they look pretty good. Not the fastest car you can buy, but a good car for someone who wants VW build quality with reasonable poke. Having it chipped will be a simple opperation. Residuals should be better than most rivals.

I test drove a Fabia Vrs today and was wondering about the VW Polo 1.9Tdi.
The Fabia was fantastic but I wonder would the feelgood factor be better in the Polo albeit at a price.
The Fabia was fantastic I must admit and more fun than the VW GT Tdi I drove yesterday but you hear of quality control issues with VW these days whereas Skoda seem pretty solid....Choices Choices

Won't sell well!?
I read somewhere all production for the UK has been slowed to keep up with demand in the rest of the world who have had the car for a few months already. I believe the waiting list in Aus is 12 months for this car.
Doesn't mean it is any good though
