Default Help pick me a car (again!!)

Things have changed in my wonderful life
So out with the old & in with the new

The 535d tourer went on friday & the 330d Cab is going next week some time.

So its time to change a few things, basically we dont have the weather up here for the Cab, it looks good but is wasting away sitting in the garage & only coming out once every couple of weeks.

Job is changing so no point in keeping the 535d sitting at airports all week, so i am using my old Merc well its an 03 so its three years old. No point in wasting money so to speak

So basically i could spend upto 50k but going to restrict my budget to 30k give or take a few k, bearing in mind its going to be a weekend car only.

Previously i have had the two above, a GT3 , only for a matter of two months but what 2 months of fun i had with that , a MR260, MY04 Sti, Focus ST, a warrior (just for work), Cosworths, RS turbos & a load of other gumph.

Personally i have to say that i do love turbo'd cars though i can see an M3 thrown into the ring.

This is the list i have drawn up at the moment for my new potential toy are :-

M3
Evo IX 320 or above
Evo VIII 320 or above

Cant really think about anymore really.

What i am after is something no older than 3 years old & has to have at least 4 seats.

So folks give me your suggestions please

Thanks

Stephen

At this very second I am thinking an Evo 400. I know that the lesser models are better value, and easier to cope with on a daily basis - but that episode of top gear with Clarkson pushing the Lambo made me chuckle. A proper hooligan machine to relieve the stress of the week for the weekend!

I thought the FQ 400 was meant to spend more time at the dealers than on the road.

Defo RS4. If you can stretch another 5-8k you could also get a nice RS6 with 12 month warranty (ooh, just like I just did )

It's hilariously fast, seats 4 in utter luxury, has all the toys, and surprisingly sprightly given its weight.

Also with the new model not mooted until the latter half of 2007 you could have some fun and not get bitten by much depreciation as it has done most of it already.

A mustang isnt really a track car though is it.
RS6 too refined also to be a weekend car.

Cant realy beat a evo unless you get a radical, or TVR or something along those lines.

It doesn't have to be uncomfortable just because it's a weekend car.

This is true, which is why I don't think you can do better for the money than a Evo400. It is the quickest real world car, with the ability to be comfortable and transport a couple or 3 friends, it doesn't leak and you can get in and out of it without lying down first. A weekend car I assume has to be a bit special. I think this suits the criteria nicely, unless you don't like the image, or the styling.

Would you prefer posing sti-04 ?

Andy, your spot on. The car has to be for driving, **** what someone else thinks about it.

Evo 400 is looking a contender at the moment.

Though something else to add is that i dont want to get fcuked with depriecation either, probs keep the car anything from 6 months to a year. No longer as i get bored "very" easily

I would seroiusly drive the FQ400, I think you would be dissapointed. I know a couple of people who have and they where. The lag from the turbo is really bad.
You'd be better off getting a FQ320 or 340 and modding it or get a IX GT, there's a few going on the MLR for £24k with all the work done, and upto 400bhp!
