Default Toyota Lucida

I am considering getting a Toyota Lucida. Can anyone advise me on what to look out for? Could anyone recommend them?

My brother-in-law just bought one, took him weeks to find a nice one. Make sure its a 2200cc Turbo Diesel, i think some are 2400cc petrol.

The spec is just brilliant, his has a mini cooler, aircon, sunroofs, electric curtains!! lol

Just been looking at the site where i bought my scooby from, they seem to have one with a bodykit, looks well, worth having a look:

There are hundreds of different specifications (Estima/Estima Enima Estima Lucida & Previa! -2400cc supercharged petrol IIRC-); its a nightmare and most 'importers' dont know their ***** from their elbows..... If I have time tomorrow I will find and list the models; chassis-prefix definitions and grades for you.

Mitsy,

I can only speak about these cars from personal experience, but my only advice would be to stay well away from them. My father bought a 96 'P' reg Estima Emina X ltd (lol) the car had only 27000 miles on the clock and was in very good condition. It had a 2.2 diesel engine and an auto box, had fairly good spec, double aircon, moonroof, but I thought the interior was fairly poor standard with cheap plastics and cloth seats that were very soft and spongey.

The engine was a bit of a disappointment had very poor mpg probably in part due to auto box, but it was consistantly returning mid 20's mpg, and bearing in mind it was a low mileage car it suffered from a misfire on a regular basis.

The main thing that detracted from the car was the suspension, I dont know what the roads are like where you live, but up here in Jockland they are very bumpy/uneven and the suspension was VERY soft, the car would wallow and ground out regularly, the shocks and springs were changed but made no impact to this problem.

Hope this helps,

Dougie

G is a higher (model) grade than X; D, F & S are rare lower grades.
