Just bought one for the wife. Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the 2.2 engine? Good or Bad.

there was a problem with the early 2.2's snapping the timing chain due to the lubrication system for the chain being faulty.

Had a 2.2 SRi Vectra.... not 1 problem the whole 3 years I had it.... no need to change timing belts etc... due to being a chain, but as said above there was an issue with these chains, but was not a common issue, so you should be fine

Test drove both the 2.2 & 1.8, we bought the 1.8, felt better than the 2.2..

My mate had one and it was noisy, had to have the chain tensioners replaced, otherwise he liked it.

I've got an 18 month old 2.2 direct vectra and apart from reliabilty it's quite quick and suprises things it shouldn't

I wouldn't say it was quick but she's happy with it.
