Peugeot dealers don't have a "Scooby".......
I had occasion to drop into a Pug dealers today with a colleague who fancies a 206cc (I know, I know.....)
Anyway, the salesguy didn't seem to know his product when asked certain questions.....
I asked, so does the 'cc' suffer badly as a result of the additional weight when compared against the hatchback model...
"Of course!, it weighs almost double" he replies without a hint of sarcasm.....
Oh yeah, I see the hatch weighs 1125kg against the massive 1152kg of the cc.... I'm sure the extra 27kg must be a real bugger to lug around.....
I then asked if the model we were looking at was the 138bhp version, due to it wearing the 2.0 litre alloys. I was told that the alloys are no longer 2.0 litre specific and this model was in fact a 1.6 and not a 2.0 as I wrongly assumed.
So I asked what power the 1.6 put out, to which he replied, "its also 138bhp"
We made our excuses and left!

I have seen it so many times before. The only satisfactory experience I have had at a dealers has been Porsche. That goes for sales, service and part. The rest are pretty poor. Shame i am won't see a porsche for some time yet

Anyone can see the problem.
BTW, from Peugeot.co.uk....
Peugeot 206 cc 2.0 litre 16v kerb weight - 1152kg
Peugeot 206 hatch 1.6 litre 16v kerb weight - 1125kg
1152 minus 1125 = 27kg matey

I got the figures from whatcar.com
Usually the weight difference would be alot bigger than 27kg from the hardtop to droptop version. So the 206cc chassis must be quite crap.
Was wrong about the power bit though I think I must have misread it.

Weird that the 2.0 cc is just 1152kg I admit, however I'll take Peugeot's word for it!

Not convinced. We had a 2.0 206CC and when I did the maths it was around 100kg heavier than the hatch. There are three hydraulic rams in the boot, for a start (although no spare wheel). I thought it was around 1250kg, i.e. similar to a Mk1 Scoob.

They do say that the 1.6 tiptronic is 1252kg which is the figure you are quoting so perhaps your figures are mixed up.
Either way, 1152kg for the 2.0 cc vs 1125kg for the 1.6 hatch is a no brainer.

BTW if you think the 2.0CC will be fast, think again. They only managed to get half-decent performance by having very short gearing. It's 20mph/1000rpm in 5th, which makes for a not very relaxing ride on the motorway.
PS: You would be wrong to believe the Pug website over me. I have the handbook from our 206CCSE (couldn't find it when I traded it in):
1.6 manual is 1215kg
1.6 auto is 1252 kg
2.0 manual is 1227 kg

No one suggested it was fast Carl
At least the 2.0 with 138bhp won't be as asthmatic as the 1.6 when lugging the cc body around.
I reckon the HDi would be an interesting prospect with 180lb/ft and 57mpg

What the CC actually needs is a 1.9TDi or something petrol-powered with a blower.

150bhp and 250lb/ft shouldn't be too unattainable surely?
