Group B 80's rally cars were nuts to say the least.

Remember the Lancia with an S/C and a Turbo? Mental.

I've read it had a nitrous tank formed as part of the roll cage, only a rumour, though might explain why Toivonnen's car burst into flaims when it crashed
Still a sight we will probably never see again, just glad to of seen the group B car's in competition

Rallying today is positively tame in comparison to the group B days, the old point & wheel spin for mile after mile.

Did you see Walter Rholl drive the semi-automatic HB Quattro in the RAC rally I think back in 1985, awesome.....

Henri Toivennen, I met him at Mira putting an Opel Ascona or may be a Manta through it's paces, good driver, pity he lost his life in Corsica.

I think i have some pics somewhere of the very car passing through Walsall town centre travelling from Sutton park en route to Weston Park I'll try and dig them out and post them up,
Wasn't the HB producing in excess of 600 BHP or some figure around that?

There's not much that sounds better than the Audi straight five. One of my all time favourites, I wish that they'd make something similar today.

Audi made a 1000bhp B2 rallycar but never put it into action as it was too dangerous and uncontrollable they say.
