Question for BMW 3 series experts ...
Gents.
330 Series 51 plate needs some work doing ... specialist garage (not BMW!) says:
1. Bushes need doing at front both sides, this is a common problem with the 3 Series. Wheels rock back & forward if you push them when car is stopped & handbrake applied.
2. Won't pass MOT unless it's done (MOT due within week).
3. About £200-250 to do.
Is the Garage on the level?
Thanks for any help given.
TX.

On the E46 you have to replace the whole wishbone I think and they are at least £50 a side?
See here http://www.e46fanatics.com/features/...php?news_id=40
Common problems also include snapped rear springs and trailing arm bushes

Yep.Have to replace full lower arms,Can get them for around £55 so MIKE is on the ball.
Take around an hour a side to fit,so with a bit of VAT i reckon the bill is about correct.

The front balljoints and wishbone bushes are very common wear and tear items on the E46. The car will require 2 wishbones and 2 bushes. Decent quality wishbones are about £70 each and a couple of bushes are about £50 for 2 from memory.
Can be done in an hour. But I would expect most garages to charge 2.
Alignment needs to be done afterwards.
Cheers

Hi Mate
I had an E46 328 i saloon, and changed both front wishbone bushes and rear trailing arm bushes
Somehow, I ended up buying 2 sets of front wishbone bushes so if you are interested £35 inc postage.
cheers

Yep, just had mine done at 65k miles.
Note that sport has aluminium (?) wishbones and are a bit more expensive (about 70 quid a side). New bushes needed, as above.
My bill was 300 quid all in for the sport suspension.
Also reckon on getting alignment done
