Default EVO IX springs

I've got an EVO IX and am looking to change the springs. I've been looking at the Eibechs from xtreme-uk(Ralliart-uk) and want to know if anyone has had any experience of these or infact, any other springs, regarding ride comparisons to standard and how much they've lowered the car.

Cheers
Chris.

Swift springs all the way, Eibach do not yet do springs for the Bilstein Suspension, you could fit the Eibachs but they are meant for the KYB shocks fitted to the Evo 8 & 260 models. This will give you the drop that you desire but you will get terrible ride and handling characteristics as they do not work with the Bilsteins.

A lot of the guys on the MLR have talked about the Swift springs, but I've not been sure if they are available for the 9.

I'm not too sure what to go for to be honest.

The Swift springs will work with the 9 dampers, the 9's have a reduction of 10mm on the rear over the 8 MR's and are only re-valved to cope with this. Eibach have not yet to my Knowledge made a kit for the Bisteins most dealers who sell the Eibachs are totally clueless about this when I did the same research early this year.

Out of interest, why would you want to change the springs? Genuine question.

The standard car looks like it is on stilts especialy at the front, also on challenging A & B roads at high speeds 90 plus it roles around more than you want on the standard springs. Same problem as new age scoobs they are much better after the fitting of the Prodrive spring kit.

Have a look on the MLR....lot of people complaining about knocking noises irrc. The Bilsteins dampers/spring combo are superb out of the box imo. Currently looking for a set to upgrade my pre-MR Evo 8.

Just got my IX yesterday, and have 235/40R18 Toyo R888 on it - not tried the Yoko A046 235/45R17 yet. Side walls are very stiff and it takes bumps and high speed corners well - I gave it a hard run over a well known road and I'm not changing anything. Bonus is that you can then go to a softer sidewall on your original 17s for wet/winter?

You're a lucky man JB, test drove a IX a fortnight ago and thought it to be significantly improved over the original 8, with regard to power delivery and ride. Pity it's got the same 'box and front brakes though!
