2006 SAAB 93 150 Hp Petrol (Superchip) Any Experiences
Just got the above and all seems fine. But as par for the course my fingers ended up looking for more power via the chipping route. Superchips claim that the 150 motor will go to 211 hp this seems very good. I have used superchips in the past and have no worries about the Diesels I have had done but is there anyone out there that have had this car/model done? Your coments apprieciated.

Sorry, just phoned Superchips and they as yet dont have a map for my car. Ho Hum.
The only other option I am aware of is Hirsch (SAAB's Own) and they are very pricey so I will have to wait I guess.

A number of Saab dealers are doing deals on Hirsch Stage 1 kits - £599 fitted. We've got one on our 9-5 2.0 LPT Estate. Power goes up from 150bhp to 210.
It will of couse retain your warranty, whereas the Superchips won't.

You should try www.nordictuning.com, www.maptun.com and www.abbottracing.com, they all do upgrades for your model.

Suggest Superchips are the most unreconised in Saab circles so I'd stear clear and stick with the most commonly used ones:
In addition to Maptun, Nordic, there is also Speedparts (BSR tuning in this case)
http://www.elkparts.com/product_info...oducts_id/1231
Or BSR direct
http://www.partsforsaabs.com/product...oducts_id=2084
Won't go wrong with any of these - Hirsch sounds like a v.good deal - usually they are a lot more expensive than the others.

£599 for +60bhp AND warranty is a pretty good deal!
@Castrol: is the Stage 1 just remap, or does it come with extra metalwork (exhaust, intercooler etc)? What difference has it made to the driving experience?

I have the Speedparts BSR Stage 1 on my car - Ordered it through Elkparts. Had it on for about 10 months now without incident. Makes a hell of a difference as the standard 150BHP is woefully inadequate.

Stage 1
We have it on our 9-5 Estate and would recommend it. Hassle free extra power.

Many thanks for your replies. The Hirsch upgrade does sound like great value at £599. I thought it was £850 origionally so it put me off a bit.
I will now call my dealer to see if they are offering this reduced price.

Alexanders in Stockton-on-Tees. However, they charged £850 fitted.
Having checked, I'm told the offer's at the following Saab dealers:
Droitwich Saab
Concept SC and Cardiff
Lime in Leamington Spa
Brindley in Wolverhampton
Holdcroft in Stoke
Hope one's near you!

Not near to Durham mate.
Many thanks for the information.
I have called a number of dealers and I am amazed at how uninformed some staff are to the product they supply.

The upgrade is an ECU flash but you dont get 60 BHP on the Hirsch it is 45 BHP, yes with exhaust mods and an air filter you will get it to 210 BHP its not cheap. Circa £2300
Remember the lower powered 1.8t is still a 2 litre engine the same as the 2.0t and Aero its just runs lower power from standard.
I have the Aero 210 BHP with the Hirsch stage 1 and air filter and its great.
It can frighten most cars and it lunches out on the standard set up Impreza.
Be carefull with the Speedparts PPC upgrade as i've read lots of reviews where users are having clutches let go very quickly as it seems to throw loads of boost at the engine.
Zippy
