Default My tubby.

Well, due to me not using the scoob enough to justify keeping it, ended up selling my sti 4 back in Feb.

Couldn't go without a turbo for long though...... and went out and bought myself an Mr2 Turbo T-Bar Rev3.

What a car! I do miss the flat four burble of the sti, but with this thing, you really can steer it with the throttle.
Standard at the moment but I have got a few mods planned such as exhaust (Apexi gt me thinks), decat, mbc. That little lot should see 280-300bhp. Now that is fun through the rear wheels!

What do you guys think?

nice one. i'm considering a return to one, once i have space for two cars. i can't think of anything else as rapid and capable for the money.
you should be able to get that sort of power for about £1000 i would have thought. you can get a g-valve for £25 to increase boost, FCD to limit boost for £20 and DIY the de-cat for free. At that age, doesn't need a cat for the MOT. thats also the colour i want - but won't be too fussed about the t-bar this time round, except that they normally have the leather, the GT-S doesn't often. i used to use www.imoc.co.uk, but you probably know that already.
have fun!

Yup, thats where I get most of my info from.
The DIY decat doesn't really do much good to be honest, and you run the risk of bits of the broken cat flying back through the turbo.
Think i'll get an xs downpipe for £80.

Very nice, although it will still need the cat. vehicles after Aug 1992 need a cat. Look forward to leaky roof seals when it rains.

A cat isn't neccesary to pass an mot it's all about emissions, my local mot centre said they would pass my car (1998) without a cat as long as it met emissions regulations, the fact is that a car is very unlikely to meet those regulations without a cat though.

Joey, already fixed the leaky roof with some eccentric rod guides. £15 and an official toyota part!
Cheaper than new seals at £400!
I'm sure that the cat thing doesn't apply to import cars until 1994??

Glad you sorted it. If not there is a guide on IMOC using cling film and silicone

I am sure I read somewhere that the MR2 turbo is no listed in the MOT handbook before a 1996 model or something and as such can't be checked for a cat.

Ah, takes me back!

I had 3 of these and I still regard my last Rev 3 as the best car I've ever had. There's nothing quite like a car that actually demands your attention to drive it.

Just don't chav it up like many do. It's great when people mistake your car for the standard NA, or don't realise the tubby exists and then wonder how their **** has been well and truly spanked by a 150 - 170 NA

Never had a cat on my 1995 Rev 3 and it passed the MOTs I took it for without any issues.

as regards the mot, as an import only there's no co2 values available for the 3SGTE engine in the SW20 chassis, hence it goes through the generic non-cat test. like i said though, i'm sure this only applies to vehicles built in or before 1995.

as regards the diy de-cat, i had no problems and i can't remember any other posts, back in the day. i wouldn't have thought particles could return back into the turbo(?) however, if you can get a decat for £80 thats fairly cheap and probably worth doing. i thought they were about £250 but thats only by memory. its quite a chunk of metal.
