Artist interpretations.
The Austrian "Kleine Zeitung" is reporting that Audi is preparing a secret car together with Austrian motorcycle company KTM.
The secret car is said to arrive 2007 and will be a "puristic roadster".
The project has "the sympathy" of Audi's boss Dr. Winterkorn, but will be decided in 2 to 3 months time by Audi.
The roadster's role model is the legendary Lotus Super Seven, but with all characteristics of a motorcycle. It's already clear that you have to wear a helmet inside the two-seater which is weighting only 700 kg.
It's also already clarified that it will receive its powertrain from Audi. Currently discussed is a 4-cylinder engine with 250 bhp.
A prototype shall be produced soon and the world premiere of the roadster could be at the Bologna motor show end of 2006. Start of the production, which will be in Austria, could be in 2007.
Estimated price is around 35.000 Euro.

------------------------------------
According to an Austrian magazine, Audi and KTM are jointly and secretly developing a sporty roadster.
The Audi-KTM roadster would take inspiration from the Caterham Seven, but would be more motorbike-like (it seems that a helmet will be necessary to drive it).
The weight of the roadster would be around 700 kg. If it's true that the 260 hp 4 cylinder TFSI engine of the next S3 is under consideration for this car, it'll have a power/weight ratio similar to that of the Ferrari 599 GTB!
Audi CEO Martin Winterkorn is said to like the project, but a definite decision will be taken only in the next 2-3 months. If positive, we might see this roadster at the next Bologna Motor Show. It'll be produced in Austria and it might be on sale as soon as the start of 2007, with a price of about 35,000 €. I wonder if it'll be nearer to the Volkswagen GX3 tricycle or to the Ecoracer concept ... [Via German Car Blog].

Havent seen this before. Sounds like it could be an excellent car. I always wanted to know what audi would be capable of with a RWD car.

To be honest I think I prefer the cleaner styling of the old TT - the new one looks like theyve reached the point where they have to update it simply because its been around for ~8years - but the new shape isnt an improvement IMO - its nice, but the styling looks fussy compared to the old one.
I'll have the little roadster thing instead thanks

Looks dull to me, like all Audis these days
Quite like the look of that roadster, but to be honest if I wanted a car like that I'd have the Ariel Atom any day of the week
