Nice cars. Had a 96 600 Si. Drives like an executive car should. Only downside is the body work, which can go seriously down hill if left out constantly in the damp and cold. Huge boot!

I remember being well impressed when they came out in what 1993 ?

Half decent car really but just another old banger really, the bargains are the tiny mileage ones bought by retiring old men, now either dead or too old to drive.

I had a very similar model. It was a 1998 600 SDI. I bought it because it was far more comfortable + a/c over my 306 d-turbo. I used to commute 150 miles a day in it. It never missed a beat, happily sailed through MOT's - and had no issues keeping with the outside lane Passat crew - lol.........

I bought it cheap, £3000 in 2001 and sold it for £1800 just over a year later - so that still hurt quite a lot! Mine was a 1-owner car, in beyond immaculate condition not even a stone chip in sight, no rust no nothing. Sold it for a Saxo VTR as I was back on the B road commute and the 600 isn't a B road car

I am sure you will have no probs, and if you feel the need go and see the derv doctor, I think you can squeeze some more power out of them.

so far im very impressed with it. For the age, it still feels like a modern car luxury car. Drives smooth, its got a couple of stone chips but nothing too bad for car of 9 years old. Is it true rover are now owned by kia?

No, its some chinese conglomerate thats bought them. I ran a 620sldi for 2 years as a company car, nice drive but had tons of niggly problems. Nothing major, just crap like the car coming out of the factory with the wrong adhesive on the header tank pipe so as soon as the engine warmed up the pipe came off loosing all the coolant!. The turbo hose was forever coming off at inconvenient moments and I even once had the entire headlining fall on me whilst driving down the M3 Apart from that it was a nice car.

It was quite highly rated when it was launched. I've got a back issue of Car Magazine from 1993 in the attic with the Rover 600 tested against BMW 3 series, Mercedes C class et al and being crowned best of the bunch!
