Lancia Stratos ID help.
Anyone know of pics of these from ground level looking at the rear of the chassis / axle.
I suspect I have 2 just up the road from me, their under covers so can't tell 100% short of knocking on the owners door and asking.
The only thing I can see is the rear axle / chassis.

Deffo could be. But more likely be replicas
I will be keeping the location quiet though.

What do you want to know, my father has a genuine Stratos...
There are so many replicas around (more than originals now) but many have been done reasonably well so look approximately correct from the outside.
Gutmann's photo is a replica (its right hand drive)

I was after a pic of the area where the rear wheel hubs meet the strut bars.
Lets just say the shape of these things make me think their Stratos's or replicas.

I used to think the Stratos was amazing until I sat in a replica at a kit car show - horrific driving position, you'd have to be deformed (or you would be after a while). Pumpkin, does that sum up the original, or was it a crap kit?

I don't find the driving position of the proper Stratos at all problematic. The pedals are slightly offset, but nothing you don't get quickly used to at all.
The kit cars may be a different matter - I've not driven enough.
No they're not the only sources of windscreens - the UK's main Stratos specialist Omicron has them and supplies them to kit cars as well - the Kamala uses a Stratos windscreen as well.
Transformer are now called Hawk and they're replica looks right as moulds were taken off a real one (now in Japan). There was another kit called Allora / Litton / Carson or Napier which is less accurate but has a better chassis than the Hawk (allegedly)
The kits use a lot of Fiat or Lancia bits, but the problems in getting some of the donor parts. Many get built with the Alfa 3 litre V6, although some get built with the old Beta Supercharged engine, or the Delta Integrale engine (similar to that in the Thema turbo or Fiat Coupe)

Its a very nice car though and Steve also competed on the Killarney Historic Rally with it as well, unfortunately retiring with mechanical problems.
I've only competed once in a Stratos ( replica ) and with regard to the driving position I can't comment but from the co-drivers side I had to lean my head to one side when I had a helmet on because of the low roof !!

Yes, but its going to be quite different to how the works rally cars were back then - changes in regulations for modern safety standards such bag tanks, roll cages etc., plus if its recently been converted to Gp. IV specifications then there have been difficulties getting the same type of brake calipers, mouting bells, discs etc.,
Still looking forward to seeing it get some good results.
A number of Stratii are being prepared for rallying now that they've been allowed in, be interesting to see how many will actually master the car - after all the Stratos was almost unbeatable in many rallies and was still competitive long after politics at Fiat retired the Stratos in favour of the 131

I've always wanted one ever since I read about the one Ian Fraser ran when he was involved in Car (the god old days 25+ years ago)
Out of interest how much would a real one cost now. I had a bit of a google but couldn't see any for sale. £100k or more?

Ours is a late one which had these. We've had it maybe 15 years now. It was used by Sony for Gran Turismo II sound and graphics sampling. Jeremy Clarkson used it on one of his videos.
A road version - £ 90,000 or so would buy a nice one that didn't need any work doing to it. Cheaper ones will need some possibly expensive maintenence. There is one for sale with only 2000 miles for £ 125,000 but this may require some work due to problems due to lack of use.

Hugh's brother Dave has a 'Corse i', the independent rear suspension version, it has double wishbones rather than struts as on the original. He had an Alfa 3.0 V6 in it but that's gone now with a Lotus V8 twin turbo waiting to fill the gap!
The Ferrari 355 gearbox is taking some matching up so there's talk of just slapping a 355 engine in too! 
This is the blue one that went on a few of the Northern Runs organised from on here.
