My Old Lotus Carlton and some other guff.
This car has been scrapped now, the new owner got some cowboy to work on the engine, it suffered an engine fire and burnt to a crisp!
The Scooby belongs to my fiancée, I am just the mechanic and I get to drive it when I'm good
My car is a sensible omega:
Exciting! (you can also see my other halfs old MR2, she likes her jap stuff!)..
Although when finances allow I am going to get myself another bike, really fancy a Blade but I swore I would never get anything bigger than a 600 because last time I nearly killed myself (on several occasions).

Was the Lotus carlton really as quick as the motoring press made out...?
Is it still the fastest 4 door production car??
Remember seeing one close up as a kid and was gobsmacked as to how fat the rear tyres where!!!!

One of the ABS members clocked 185 in a standard one and there are various videos of european cars showing a reading of 200kmh on the dash.. Another guy I know (who deals in parts) got hold of one that had been played with, 540bhp and enough torque to split counties. It was too dangerous to drive though, the back end just wanted to go in-front.
Its the sheer amount of torque and the smooth power delivery (two tiny turbos spin up pretty quick) that makes them so good. Plus the Carlton chassis is a beast and doesnt tend to twist or flex.

IMHO a 600 can be ridden like the knackers and it will still stop and go round corners
I've had various much bigger bikes and gone some stupid speeds, great adrenaline rush but not much good if you end up in the back of an artic

There was one in Autotrader the other week in Glasgow for 11 grand. That is a *lot* of car for the money, and it ain't going to lose much value, hopefully - unless the engine says "see ya"
Another great tempting car

My very first track day was at a VERY wet Castle Combe with water streaming across the track.
And one of the cars was a Lotus Carlton driven by a guy with rallying experience. Good experience by the look of it.
The car was never in a straight line - even on the long straights it was going sideways. Absolutely fantastic. Always loved the look and political incorrectness and media uproar this car evoked.
Shame another one is lost forever.

One of the AutoBahnStormer members used to take his car down to the CCC track days a lot, He managed to roll his car when the auto leveling suspension malfunctioned on a corner , he was a bit of a nutter so he re-shelled it and still went back!
