9-5 aero
Hi there,
These cars look like good value for money.
7.5K buys a 2002 model with reasonable miles. 250 bhp, lots of torque and plenty toys.
Not sure about handling, running costs and reliability.
Any thoughts?
Martin.

worth 4k a year later though! - great cars - wibbly wobbly handling.
I had a 9-3 Turbo with 185bhp, wafting along on the torque would catch out neds in CTR's

Saabs do unfortunately depreciate very quickly, although that can only make for some seriously good second hand bargains. Reliabilty is pretty solid, my dad has had 7 Saabs and no real problems with any of them.

I've got an 02 9-5 Aero. Great car... dull but very good. As my Dad says "it's a fantastic motor, most sensible thing I've bought"... hmmmmmm
Handling ~ some what like a ship in a storm, lists a lot to port and starboard when pushed on.... oh and you need to weigh anchor to get the thing to stop after you've been pressing on for a while as the brakes are pants. (well it is about 1600KG !)
The torque from the Aero engine is amazing. Great motor for travelling down to Le Mans again this year.
Comes with loads and loads of toys, leccy memory seats, Xenons, cruise, climate etc.
Running costs so far have been peanuts, cheap as chips oil service although I've due a scary service at 66k I think. However the true running costs will come when I try and trade it for something else and end up with £1.99 as a PX.

We've got a 9 month old 9-5 Estate with Hirsch Stage 1 kit that raises the power/torque to 210bhp/320Nm and it's excellent. Comfortable, hassle free motoring, with loads and loads of space and a decent turn of pace - 0-60mph in 7.5secs/30-70 in 7 secs/Vmax 149mph/30mpg - all with an auto box and column mounted (flappy paddle) manual change. Loads of toys - leather, CD, Climate, Cruise, fully featured Computer, fridge Glove Box, etc etc. Insurance is £230 F/C.
Cheers

I've just bought an 02 9-5 Aero for £6k with 100k on the clock, it drives like new. This is my third Saab and by far the best, the mileage doesn't bother me, it will only be used as a second car. £28 ish grand when new so a bargain s/h buy. The 02 facelift models have better handling but you can buy a Koni kit for about £450 which turns it into a great handling car.
