XC 90 or ML270
I would like some feedback because we are looking at buying a 7 seater and both of these come with 7 seats. I have driven both cars, but i would like to hear from anyone who owns either of these.
ie runing cost, dealers and sevices cost
The only thing that makes this a hard decision is the WR1 has to go,but its been a great 18 months.

Assume you mean a second-hand ML, as the new one's don't come with 7 seats anymore. New X5, due early 2007, will also have 7 seat option, assuming you could wait that long.
...or a LR Discovery 3, plenty of space and 7 seats. Very good in HSE spec, with air suspension.

Audi Q7 has 7 seats as well and being a new model its assured to hold its value very well for the next couple of years, so might be a sensible move if you are buying new.

XC90 would be my choice. That model merc has/had bad reliability problems according to a few surveys (from memory) and MB dealers atre not always the most helpful of souls.
The diesel XC90 is a great car, the diesel is a good engine.

Volvo - On our 2nd one. Both Diesel autos. Excellent car, very versatile, wife loves it, bills not too bad, drives very nicely for its type, good ride, very quiet (for a diesel). Auto very slow to pick up when moving off ( Volvo say it is a deliberate software programming!) You can spool it up on the brakes to fool it. Use Van Aaken smartbox to perk up engine (Take off when in for service). New diesel engine is meant to be much better.
We did have a lot of faults with our first car, but it doesn't seem representative, as many friends have not had any.

Thanks you all seem to think the same as I do. They both drive well, I have also heard that MB are expensive to service, and things seem to wear out quickly as the build quality is poor
