Default golf gti mk3 2.0 16v mixture or idle problem??

can anyone help me ive got a gti mk3 and it is struggling to idle and when driving if i let off the accelerator i get back fire from the exhaust.can anyone point me to where the mixture control is and/or where i sort the idle out?any help would be excellent,cheerz

Id go for the Air flow sensor as it is a comon problem!

Defo sounds like air flow meter..Very very common on the bosch system your golf has.Only other prob that crops up is lambda sensors from time to time..

Go with the AFM.

cheerz bud,thanks for the advice,definatly sticking with my scooby tho!german cars are too much hassle
