Default rear brake calipers - do you need flexible hoses?

hi

on a solid rear axle, do you need flexible hoses going to the rear calipers (sliding type)?

i've never had a problem before but was failed on the MOT earlier because of this!

cheers

Not trying to be funny, but if it failed its MOT because of it, then surely it needs them..?

Maybe the ones you have are corroding/corroded..?

I assume the pipe is flexible where it joins the axle? Perhaps the MOT tester has only ever worked with independant rears?

personaly i would say yes as constant movement ov caliper even though very small could cause stress break, also wear in pads over time would also change bends in pipe if solid mounted

well, looked at the setup and think he does have a point, the small movement over time could cause a problem - though this car gets a full inspection pretty much once a month anyhow!

time to go fit some flexible hoses...
