Default Personal Contract Hire - rip-off or not ?

Anyone bought a car on personal contract hire ?

I've lost approx £14k over 2 years on my car - buying it outright with a car loan at 7.6% APR

I rarely keep a car these days over 2 years, so was thinking of perhaps a form of contract hire.

Haven't done the figures yet, but was wondering if it was popular ?

Out of curiosity, how flexible is it - eg. what happens if you decide after say 4 months of a 36month contract hire agreement you want to pull out ?

Just another way of packaging depreciation and financing, as well as someone else to give profit to.

If you want to save money, you could save up to buy the car you want and buy something that will depreciate less - either new or used?

On 3rd PCH now. Last one was Scenic for 12 months 99+VAT a month. If anybody can work out how I could have got a new family car for less then inform me, £17k car at 7% finance is around that, then add the depreciation ...
Any decent car for around 200 is a good deal. Prestige is normally 300+
Getting out is a problem, normally its 50% of remaining premiums. I tend to go for short deals max 18 months.
Current deal seems to be on Merc A classes, 129+Vat, they were doing WRX quite cheap not so long ago.

Look on www.contracthireandleasing.com for the deals
