Default Mercedes ML's

Wouldnt mind a 270 Diesel. around an 03 plate
Are they better build quality than the older models ?

Im sure there were some problems with the petrol ones. Someone im sure told me that the petrol ones were built in the USA and the Diesel ones in Germany ???

All built in the states i'm afraid (alabama to be precise ), the late ones were no doubt much better than the early ****e. Build quality was questionable on all of them in comparison with some of the German built Mercs, but not Kia by any stretch.
The diesel was definitely the most popular by a long way and was probably the best compromise between luxury and economy.
Be aware there isn't much cheap about them to run, think £80-90 a set of pads and around £70 each for discs.

Need anymore info PM me i might know somebody who works for Mercs

A lot of folk slate these for poor build quality but I havent heard any bad real stories about build quality issues. Even the legend that is Tiff Needel has one and he also claims that the build quality hasnt caused any problems for him. Praise indeed from a man of his caliber.

I thought the later ones were built over in Europe due to the quality issues regarding the US factories ??

I remember this as I was once looking for one and still would get in one if the price was right. Never quite sure about the mpg though as I read reports ranging from 19mpg / 45 mpg ????

In the mean time I brought a 2.5 SWB pajero for £1500. 56K miles / K plate, fun little thing, although 25mpg tops.

The ML's (not necessarily the brand new ones that recently came out) do appallingly in all the driver power surveys.
