Chinese 4x4 gets zero NCAP safety score!
The Jiangling Landwind has scored zero on NCAP safety tests carried out in Germany. These were tests carried out by ADAC, the German version of the AA and aren't the official NCAP rating which is de out soon. But it still appears to be a shocking result.

It's worth comparing the performance with other cars for reference. The following site shows pictures compared to a VW Toureg, which has a good NCAP rating. It also compares it to some slightly older cars to show how poor they perform in the same tests. Just shows how technology moves forward (and how far behind the Landwind is, which will be imported to the UK from next year).

Bloody hell!
Maybe we should stick to the clothing industry rather than automobiles cos that is horrendous.
What on earth is the chassis / frame made of? Tin foil?
That is a shocker.

Because it failed does that mean they will still be allowed to sell it?? They shouldnt. Surely there must be some sort of minimum the car must achieve. Mind you the ford is the biggest selling car in the world and look at the pictures of it. It just goes to show that crash safety does not sell cars. It allways comes down to money.

Rover still made and sold the Metro and old Mini didn't they? Both death traps with wheels - which was well known for decades.
It was only thanks to the gutter press and highlighted publicity of the crash tests that was the cause of the Metro's cease of production (Hopefully the same will happen here ) . Rather than the safety reccomendations from the bodies that actually did the test (although there was a loophole that the car was in production before the tests came into force).
(I agree it does look like a Frontera/Isuzu...interesting the Isuzu Rodeo (basically an American Frontera) crash pics in the link has similar results - same car??? If so...maybe the loophole still exists )

nope, they wont be allowed to sell it. However due to our stupid laws they can bring in up to 2000 units a year before the rules on safety come in, I've read that they plan to do that anyway regardless of the safety just so they can get a foothold in the market.
This law is intended to help small producers, i.e. the british back yard car builders, not foreigh manufactures importing low numbers!

indeed, pretty scary stuff...
...but id hate to see an Impreza in a similar scenario, the general 'tinny' nature of them doesn't fill me with confidence anyway!
