Default Fastest American cars

http://biz.yahoo.com/weekend/fastuscar_1.html

Interesting article..... especially as the fastest US road car claims to go 275mph! (estimated via a wind tunnel )

I'll believe it when i see it.

The veyron is supposed to be good for 252mph and thats got in the region of 1000bhp, to gain another 20 odd mph on top of that would take a near miracle

The Callaway Corvette "Sledgehammer" did 254mph with 880bhp 17 years ago.

Didn't the Vectors have a bench seat in the front that would seat three people?

Don't remember that. I do remember that they didn't have the handbrake btwn the two front seats - manufacturer's comment was "If you spend so much on a car with so much pulling power [he didn't mean torque], you don't want a handbrake to interrupt your progress "

Vector weren't owned by Lambo but used the engines. Hence why they went bust as they didn't actually pay for them . The M12 (which was in Sean Connery film Rising Sun) could do about 190 from the Lambo engines. The 1000bhp Vector I dont think actually got built.
