Us Brits are far more sensible than to use a sock.
He obviously needed something larger that wouldn't get pulled in. I'd have used my missus' bra. Far more sensible IMO.

At least the geezer knew where the oil filler cap was.... can't say that about all BMW drivers - some I know would struggle to identify where the bonnet release is.
BTW, MGJohn thought he was a BMW free area until he spotted their logo on one of his ZS's under bonnet gizmos...
