Looking at one which is a 1999 30,000 miles.
Any horror stories? Anything I should look out for?
Cheers,

As above they are sh*te, possibly even worse!!!
Dependant on budget have a look at some of the jap stuff = except early Hyundais, ssangyong and Kias. Toyotas, Mitsubishi, honda CRv (not a real off roader) but hey miles better than a Frontera. The frontera used to get slated by the motoring press for its lack of off road ability, reliability, build quality, economy etc I can only imagine how bad the 3.2v6 is regarding MPG.
I know the above all sounds negative but I'd rather be honest than see you end up with a lemon.

I have a 2001 Frontera (although it is the DTi) and it is a great car. (Clearly the guys above have owned bad ones and I suspect they sold them not long after they bought them)
I have had it for about 6 months now and like it a lot.
I get about 35mpg with it. It wont set any land speed records but is comfortable and goes well.
The older Fronteras did get slated but the newer ones are much improved.
A mate had one before his Land Cruiser and did a bit of off-roading with it after doing a 4x4 course at work. He found it very capable.

I thought it was their 'on-road' manners which were slated in the press... IIRC they were fine with light off road use.
End of the day, if you want to do proper off-roading then you'll be looking for something like a Defender, IMO.

Grant

Previous owner had 3 cars....
The car is spotless....
I've seen a Forester turbo 99 same kinda of mileage maybe I'd be better off with that?
Cheers,
Plums.
