Porsche 911 okay for every day use ???
Hi,
Quick question. Could you use the above for every day use ? i.e. driving back and forward to work ? what low yearly mileage would you want to keep a car like that on i.e. what would be too many miles a day for it, resale wise, fuel wise, general wear etc.?
If a man had to drive 12 miles to work and 12 miles back every day would that be too much or would you class that as very lowe daily mileage ? A friend in work is on the brink of buying a 03 model 911 and he just wanted to know these things..
cheers.

Probably not very good for the car as it is only just warmed up when he is turning it off. However it shouldn't cause any problems as long as he takes it for a good run now and again.

I've been lucky to have had 3 (currently a 996 C4S) - used every one as an everyday car. They say that they are better used daily than stored and used intermittently !
Absolutely no problems - I do 10k+ miles/year - nothing but reliable (unless its a 964 )

Had a C2, C4S & now a Turbo, all of which get/got used every day, no problems at all, I do around 8k miles a year, so not huge mileage but these cars can handle happily 3x that mileage a year & not be a problem.
A friend of mine with a 996 TT has done 20k miles in the last 12 months & its been faultless.

How much of these miles that your all mentioning would be made up of travelling back and forth to work ? i.e. how many miles a day (mon to Fri) would you be doing ?

Used my old SC on and off as a daily driver for 6 years never missed a beat ate up 127000 miles no problem.
Used it on long runs short Journeys sitting in traffic jams cheapest car I have ever ran. No problems with it in any scenario.
Should think an 03 car can only be better in every aspect.

In the 964, I clocked up 7k miles in roughly 6 months - before it got sent back to the dealers - never to return again !!. The 964 was the thirstiest 911 I've had also but they all pale in to insignificance to RoShamBo's TT when it comes to mpg
