Battery dead, so will have to disconnet to fit new one. Reading the manual it seems the Bose stereo will ask me for the code since power has been disconnected - trouble is one of the previous owners stored the card in a very safe place, as in not in the car when we bought it

Before Audi charge a fortune to press a few buttons mason style, does anyone know how to override the code and set a new one?

If you can find out who sold the car originally and went to them with the V5 they should be able to find out on their computer.

Failing that, they will take the serial number of the unit and send it to Audi UK who will send them the code. I have no idea if they will charge you for this or whether they'll do it as a freebie. Is the car due a service soon?


Or failing that an independent radio speicialist will be able to recode the unit but that will cost you.

No need!

Battery out, replaced - stereo works fine. Said 'LEARN' for a bit but other than that fine.

Both the Haynes and the Audi manual said I would need the code, but battery was out and replaced within 30 seconds so perhaps there is some backup battery in the stereo or something.

Any chance you can help me decode my Audi radio? I just changed my battery and I can't seem to get my radio out of safe mode.
The serial number is: AUZ5Z6W0045622
The car is an Audi A6 Quattro with a Bose stereo.

How did you read the serial number, without removing it from the vehicle using the "special no longer availiable" radio keys?
