Default MX5 dilemma

A two-part enquiry this:

I've seen a Mark 2 MX5 on an R plate advertised as a 1.8 Sport, does this mean that it would be a 1.8iS with the LSD? Is there any way of checking without lookng at oily bits - I looked in the handbook but could see no mention.

After another 3 years what would you expect this car's value to be - some imported cars seem to be up for silly money if you look on the Autotrader website. They seem as a rule to hold their value pretty well..

More than can be said for my 8 month old Ignis Sport - Offered approx £4100 in PX.. Ouch!

Nearly 100 views and no answer!

Posted on MX5 site and they seem to think it would have an LSD, apparently (if I'm reading it right) all 1.8 MK2's if they have ABS will be iS's and if they are an iS they'll have an LSD.

Any thoughts on future value of these things?

My fiance has a 1.8 jap import mx5, 45000 miles on the clock in red, imaculate inside and out. She only paid £2750 with full uk and jap history.
We have been looking around for the same car just to check the price and they are all above £3500 with more miles.
I think that we got a good deal.

Don't know about the MX-5 but sympathies about the Ignis. Had been toying with getting a year or so ago, and saw the state of the price when I re-checked last week!

Anyway, back on topic...

Hi tailsteve,

I used to own a Mk2 1.8i (And was a member of the MX5 OC) and this had no ABS, no LSD etc. Just electric windows, tape player and a roof that went down

The iS i believe had additional kit such as CD Player, ABS, fog lights and that was it. I beleive I was informed before that the "iS Sport" had the LSD as well as additional sideskirts, front lip spoiler and boot lid spoiler + all the usual iS kit.

BTW... cracking cars. I really miss mine - tempted to get another!!

Hope this helps!

FWIW,

Had a merlot Mk1 (wife's) and was pretty sure that had a LSD. I thought they all do (but happy to be proved wrong).

Again, top cars IMHO. Slightly effeminate to some, but simple joys and wind in hair, flies in teeth enjoyment.

As far as I am aware all the eunos derivatives have the LSD, although this does not help with your dilemma.
