Default Latest estate dilemma

I've considered numerous diesel estates and the following two are leading the pack. Ideally I'd like an A4 Avant or 330d Touring but my budget would only get me a high miler, so.....

Mondeo Estate ST TDCi 2.2
44 mpg
152 bhp
360 Nm
540 litre boot
0-60 mph - 8.7s
133 mph top speed

and

VW Passat Estate TDi 130 Highline
47 mpg
128 bhp
285 Nm
495 litre boot
0-60 mph - 9.9s
125 mph top speed

In the Passat's favour...... VW build quality, good spec on Highline (leather, aircon, 6 cd changer) heated leather seats (mmmmmmm) half decent residuals.

In the Mondeo's....... Better looking IMO (bodykit, 18's etc), huge boot, cracking torque, Sony in dash CD changer, half leather etc.

Both around the £15k mark, I'm guessing the Ford's residuals will plummet, but the new Passat is just out also so this may take a drop too.....

Anyone give me some divine inspiration?

Mondeo - pick up a squeaky clean 03 plater for about 8k and spoil yourself with the difference.

I recently sold a Mondeo Estate I was running round in. A nicer car to drive than similar passat IMHO as its got a more sporting intent.

Mondeo estate is a cracking car !
The VW build quality isn't that much better than the higher spec Fords anymore.
If it were my money I would go for the Mondeo.

Would have to agree that the Honda is perhaps the worst looking estate out there. Honda are usually good on the design front aswell.
