Cool First wankle engine ?

I bet you were thinking Mazda ?

Well thanks to 'the Audi Chanel' [259 for digital viewers] i discovered an array of interesting facts. For example, the German manufacturer NSU had the first fully functional 21bhp engine was completed in 1957 and was used in a number of motorbikes.

Mazda started using the engine in 1967 in the cosmo 110.

DKW made the first mass production FWD !

and so on.......................

I knew it wasn't Mazda, they just copy Europeans

My mates brother had a NSU Ro80 when I was a "bit" younger!

Mazda didn't exactly copy, they had a licence I think from NSU.
It took them years of determined effort to make it work properly.

Interestingly Suzuki beat Norton into production with their rotary RE5, even if it was a flop.

Not sure where they copied that idea, and NSU did make a rotary bike as well

I read something recently about the engine mazda have used for the RX8. In the manual they don't advise the owner not to use the car from cold for short journeys - they tell you you can not use the car from cold for short journeys. I think it is a 'fuel wash' issue.
