Everyone has to own a 205 GTI at some point in their lives. I was lucky enough to be able to own one new in the early nineties. I have yet to find a car as good all round as that car, go kart handling, good pedal feel, short clutch travel with a fast short throw slick gearchange, electric throttle response etc. It had its downfalls though, poor rattly trim and plastics, was an utter pig in traffic, poor unrelieble electrics (I went through two starter motors in 2 years!)

I'd add Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, but then I would, wouldn't I?

You're probably too old and sensible to want to try an original Mini.

I'd definitely add an E30 M3, unless you now hate all BM's.

I have a 205 gti and had a R5 turbo. They're alright as a second car but as the only one, they would feel hard work, dated and the novelty will wear off pretty quickly I'd imagine.

I was going to add 944 to the list. It was a dream car when I was 16, but I had one for a few years and it was great. Difficult to find one without a high mileage now though.

CRX VTEC - not the hairdresser one, the model before. Still the best car I've ever owned.

You make it sound so easy. Is that a car you're selling, or just one you know of?

Not that I could buy it anyway. I've got a starving house to feed, or something...

I had a 3 door cossie, and found it over-rated, however, an Escort Cossie, that definately has to go on the list

A mint and unmolested Corrado VR6 would be my first choice .

If I couldn't find one of them, it would have to be the 205gti, either 1.6 or 1.9. Wouldn't matter - Great drives the pair of 'em!

Looks - well thats down to choice. Goes better?? are you on drugs??

Seriously, with M030, LSD and bucket seats, it is a sublime car, a classic, and the car the press rightly rave about....and one looking back, the car I should have bought.

However, most of the cars don't have these options...well, they may have one of the 3! If you can find one for sale with the M030 suspension and brake upgrade you are doing well!

Without the options it's just a cheap 968 with small brakes, crappy sachs suspension, no LSD, non sports seats, wind up windows, no aircon and certainly not worthy of any premium that the halo effect has caused! It would cost a lot of cash to make it the same car as one with the options.

Still think I am bitter In fact I want to save people being dissapointed!

I think that is a matter of opinion, but considering that they make some of the best cars in the world, I think your comment is a little unjustified. Oh and by the way, I am not a BM driver.
