Watch out for cars running too much boost without the fuel looked after, AVCR & SAFC already fitted and mapped with save you a quid or two. Proof of a gearbox rebuild a nice to have.
They are old now, not so many coming in.. sorry just noticed the UK part.. best of luck finding a good one. IMHO find one thats gone wrong... possibly had 4k thrown @ it for the engine rebuild etc.. smart buy. Just my 2p.

There were only 70 UK ones made, so you would be better looking for a clean import example as you have far far more to look at here. Be warned, although there are some really nice examples, there's also some real dogs becuase they are pretty old now and some just haven't been looked after. Budget 5k-6k and you should find a clean, well looked after example if you do your research.
Although I am biased, the better site and club is now www.nissangtir.co.uk which is the well run and informative GtiR Modifiers Club.

By the way, they are certainly not a cheap car to run (but not evo expensive either) but its best to have a few grand a side just in case the box goes, or piston if someones not used a decent fuel setup in the past.
From a driving point of view?...well I've driven various early Scoobs, including Sti's, and a modfied evo5 and 7, and I still love the rawness of the pocket rocket, certainly when setup well with the correct mods (brakes and arbs etc).

id pretty much want a standard one, my mate has a nice clean smart white uk one, in his garage that he brought for himself to use but would sell it me, and give me a good price for the wrx, i know he looked at about 15 before buying this one,
is mpg similar to the wrx? insurance is only half as much as im payin on the wrx, and servicing should be cheaper

i had a uk red one, fuel economy was probably worse than the scooby, first night i had it i managed 96 miles from a full tank. Mine had minor engine work, and tarox 6 pot brake conversion, but although they are fast in a straight line, they do not take corners to well (in my case really not very well). Gearbox went as well which resulted in my car skidding to a halt in traffic, not good. Got a replacement recon though for £300+ quid (seller had wrong price on it but honoured it)
much prefer the scooby. (Didnt the white ones have the close ration box as well?)

With 14s as standard and basic suspension they don't handle that well, not compared to modern machinery anyway, but they do have excellent feedback, and its just the understeer on the standard models that people dislike. You can flick the car to provoke oversteer pretty easily if you know what your doing, or modify it a bit better...
Mine now has lightweight 15s with toyo 888's, whiteline antiroll bars and various bushes, GAB shocks, whiteline strut braces and w/line springs, and powerstation bumpersteer kit, and it handles like a go kart. Coupled with 322.3bhp at 1.2bar, mapped for low lag, better 4 pots brakes, and basic lightweight mods (now 1185kg) ....its all great fun. You will end up wanting to improve it.

Its how I like it, nothing special to a lot in the club now, but enough for me. Hopefully we'll start seeing some Pulsars get some 10sec 1/4 runs soon, which won't be bad for an old car with very limited development compared to other modern cars.

1185kg, that's heavy Steve
Mine ran a 12.6 at Elvington on Sunday in the torrential rain we had. It's only running 1bar and well under 300bhp The water on the 2nd 1/8th was realy holding me (and everyone else) back at least 0.5sec
If you get a good one, they certainly go well (as mine proves) and mine has been very reliable for the 3.5 years I've had it. It's due for some tlc over the winter as I've been trying to kill the clutch all year (it started slipping in about april)
Avoid buying cheap as it'll more than likely be a shed.

Carl, fancy seeing you here. I'm guessing 1185kg...oz superlegs probably save 10kg, no a/c save 25kg, and no spare save 10kg. Might go on a proper diet like yours over the winter, and then get it weighed. If you become the first less-than-300bhp Pulsar thats can do a high 11sec pass, then hats off to you mate.... weight, short ratio box and mad driving allowed.
