Question Merc C32 AMG 5 door - any opinions ?

Reason for asking is thar my Father is selling his 2001 model, with v v low mileage on it (10k ish) and I'm seriously thinking about buying it.

Anyone owned one here or offer an informed opinion. My old man has certainly been impressed with it, just time for a change for him.

Thumbs up

Steve Sutcliffe ran one as a staff car when he was on the ed team at 'Autocar' and reckoned it was one of the best all-round cars he'd ever driven...but it did have its niggles.

If your dad's car has behaved itself, I'd go for it.

Cheers

I'm a Merc mechanic, and haven't heard any reports of engine problems with the 32AMG engines. All Merc engines are pretty bullit-proof (except for valve seat problems on 271 engines and MAF sensors that make Subaru ones look good), and as for the 5 Door C32AMG, I'll think you'll find that they are quite desirable, and an absolute hoot in a straight line (ie, feel free to drag race an M3, just don't race it round the twisties).

I used to have one, quick in a straight line, yes, but my Alpina pisses all over it in every area bar speed, and even then it is pretty close. Sounds pretty anodyne too, no supercharger whine, just run of the mill V6.

Lost a **** load on mine due to an undiagnosable elec fault, Merc had it on 4 occasions and couldn't fix it.
Also full of interior rattles and the nav and Bose were ****e.

It'll be a long, long time before I have another Merc!!!!

My Alpina B3S Coupe is in a different league by comparison.
