Default Focus ST - anyone ordered 1?

Now then. Has anyone ordered the new Focus 220?

If so, what pack (1,2 or 3) and how much are you paying for it.

Local dealer to me recons the 1st batch are in orange (not a problem as looks ) but he is quoting list price, no discount and has been told to sell extras to get the price up as well

Demo is due in 2 wks or so, would be rude not to give it a go none the less

Well as I sell the things for a living I thought it would be rude not to order myself an ST3 in Electric Orange. Has to be the one to go for, lovely leather electric Recaros!!!

My garage is actually owned by Ford so I do get some discount, however, I don't think there will be any deals to be had on these as demand is going to exhaust supply very quickly. I know our CMA has been allocated 7 for Nov sales and 8 for Dec. Deliveries should start in January.

Should be an awesome tool and I'm off to Leeds on Thursday to see one in the flesh. Oh yes!!

I am tempted especially if anywhere is offering any sort of discount. Looks a good package!

A few people are saying that they are getting discounts and one chap recons if you work in the Ford group (he is at Aston Martin) you can get the ST3 for £16k Maybe you can but this & the other so called end user discounts have yet to be proved.

Yeah. I'll be buying mine for around 16k. It is indeed a Ford employee scheme.

But as I say, internet brockers aside (who will gladly take an order but have no idea if they can actually get hold of a car), I'd be amazed if you get more than a tank of fuel and some mats for at least the next 6 months.

If you want to buy one however, and are based in the northwest, PM me and I can sort one out for you

Do you work at OMC?

We bought our Focus from there a couple of years back, good car and OMC service was excellent.

Been trying to persuade the Mrs to buy an ST but she wont have it.

Panther Black ST2
I was offered an Orange one quicker delivery, as the fisrt 150 off production line are Orange. And all demos will apparently be orange.
Im sure it will look nice in orang, but there will be an over kill on the colour

I saw an orange one travelling down the M4 yesterday - looked OK in that colour....

I have been tempted to chop my Mondeo ST220 in for one (using the Ford scheme again) but I'll think I'll wait and see what people's overall impressions are with them as the Mondeo is a nice car and I don't necessarily need to change it.

I had an ST170 for 2 years, the new ones are more powerful but you need to consider a few things. The main thing is resale value, like any Fords these things lose a fortune on resale even in perfect condition & good spec. Therefore I'd suggest not going for the top lux spec as you will lose even more. Watch very carefully what you spend on extras & don't let the costs get anywhere near Golf or Scoob price. You also need to remember that it's a Ford & will have pretty poor servicing quality with the usual issues of the car going in to be fixed for one issue & then coming back to you with something else wrong with it. Otherwise, they are good cars with a fine chassis but not a patch on a Scoob.

The ST170 is well documented as having many more flaws than the average Ford, hence the reason in ended up with the Mondy instead. However both local dealers to me, for servicing, are excellent. Maybe you have just been unlucky.

We have our Focus serviced at the local Ford garage and they are pretty good.

Last service (2 weeks back) was £290 but it included new cat back exhaust which I know was blowing and a new rear brake cylinder which had started leaking, which I also knew about.

Resale on these shouldnt be a prob. My cousin had an RS, had it for a year, put 10k miles on it then sold it and lost.....£1500 !!!
I think you just have a bad dealer as the Ford dealers around me are very good, indeed the one local to me is superb.
The Focus RS is a far a better drivers car than the Scoob that is if you like to drive as opposed to be driven. Anyone can drive a Scoob fast.
I have had Scoobs but would in no way use them as a benchmark although I understand that most will try here on a Subaru BBS.

I spoke to my local Ford dealer yesterday and they told me that they will not have a demonstrator available for test drive till January. They said they are under strict instructions from HQ not to let the cars out of the show room until then?

Had a quick blast with a Focus ST the old shape the otherday in my WRX which has 225bhp, and I couldnt get away from him as easy as I would have liked, Spoke to a bloke who has a Focus RS and explained to him how fast the ST was, and he reckoned that a Focus ST sat on his bumper and didnt matter how hard he tried to get away the ST kept up.

Never been in a Focus ST but they dont half shift, can only imagine what the new shape will be like, will have to get more power, to keep up with these new cars that keep coming out.

My wife has a ST170 and it's a great car and I love driving it, if the new ST220 is the same with more power it will be a great buy. Had our ST170 from new and it's never missed a beat-totally reliable and fun.

The St170 wasn't particularly fast, surely? Quite nice, I thought, and a great car to drive, but not blistering.

This isn't a wrx thing, incidentally, more about the RS comparison.

I do agree, a good drive but never RS fast. It needed 200hp+ to make it come alive, hey ford has just done that!

I'm seriously thinking about one of these ! First Ford in ages that looks a right Cracker (Although I was seriously tempted by the RS it was based on the pre-facelift model). They seem to have gone back to basics - fine handling base car to start with, tuned suspension, powerful engine, leather recaros, extra gauges, crisp exhaust note ... simple recipe really !

Popped into my local Ford, here in Switzerland and they'll let me know the minute they get the Demonstrator in - early Nov they reckon.

As I have just lost about £30K on my 30k miles 3 year old Jag S-Type 4.2 from new ... losing money on ST options is not an issue. And don't even mention build quality/electronics or dealer service for the Jag. A thorough let-down.

As I said to the salesgirl when she asked why I would want to move away from the Jag I pointed out that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to lose £30K on the ST in 30k miles and 3 years Plus it would be fun and practical.

Did look at a Subaru and Evo but not sure how they would be for travelling across Europe at a good pace in comfort ... fun, sure ... but not so much an all-rounder as the ST seems to be.

Sounds like a nice prospect. I do like the focus, even though I'm not generally attracted to fords... it is a nice car to drive and good value.

But weaseluk, I'd have though there are nicer (if not always better) cars for a few more quid - A3/Golf with 2.0t engine? The A3 is a nice car to be inside and though I've not driven one, the VWgti seems to be a return to form for VAG.

From what I've read the Focus ST looks like it could be a belter. Also the fact that the TeamRS boss (Jost Capito) was development manager for the Porsche 911 and BMW M3 gives a hint at how well this should turn out.

I'm looking for a good, honest fun car ... and the Focus is priced aggressively (I'm still smarting at the loss I took on the Jag, a so-called quality car). I really don't care what shape/colour the badge is on the front of my car. I always loved the attitude of the Escort Cosworth and RS models. Good, honest little cars that could well and truely kick sand in the face of a lot of over-inflated marques - this is a feeling scooby drivers will relate to also !

I aldmit, I have a soft spot for the performance fords - I have a MK1 RS2000 tucked away and it never fails to bring a smile to my face, and always end up chatting with car fans of all backgrounds wherever I go.

Your right though, the proof of the pudding is in the eating ..... I'll know when I have had a good drive in them all.

Sounds like it will be real sort-after car, maybe even class leader. CAR magazine have just given it a top class review, saying that a new Golf GTi wouldn't know which way its gone, bearing in mind the new golf covers B roads very quickly with its torque coming in quickly, means its high praise in deed.

Have a look at the Torque curve on the little Focus ST microsite :

http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/foc_c307/fo.../foc_st/-/-/-/-

there is a link on the right hand side.

I joke you not when I say you could play billiards on the top of it !

That is one of the features Jost stated he wanted, the effortless mid-range urge of the Porsche - which drivers have come to love on the new Turbo Diesels - but coupled with a nice free revving engine.

I'm looking forward to the test drive ...

Has anyone used UKCarBroker before? website looks a little cheap!!

Prices are pretty similar to ford priviledge prices, is ford priviledge just for employees and family or do friends count?

*must find friend who works for fords*
