Anyone any knowledge & experience of these?
After 44K my OE Pirelli Scorpions on the XC are nearly coming to the end of their time. I think I could manage to next service @ 48k or maybe even 50k before they had to be changed but looking ahead now.
These are "all the rage" for SUV type vehicles in the US apparently or particularly the http://www.volvoxc.com forums, so I'm reasonalby confident that they'll do for our more lenient climate but I'm interested if anyone here has any direct knowledge or could offer a better alternative?
Again, from advice on the above site, going for the 235/60/16 size over the OE 215/65/16
Car is an XC70

Puff,
Have these tyres on a set of 17" wheels for my STi UK, used them for 2 winters and I would recommend them to anyone. As you probably all ready know these are not only a snow/ice tyre they can be used all year round.
These tyres transform the Subaru handling in snow and ice, excellent grip in wet weather.
Cheers, Rob.

My experience is not so good... Grip in snow was OK but very inconsistent in the wet and disastrous in dry.. You never knew what to expect from a car/tyre.. They were produced in 12 week of 2004 and I had them on the car for 4 months and then decided it was time to change.. went for Pirelli's and all was good from then on....

Good question. 1st answer is that I don't have to pay for them so longevity is not really an issue Grip and performance is as they are the main things that keep me on the black stuff. The XC is never really going to be on a par with the scoob for outright grip but getting the most from what available is paramount.
The Nokians have a good reputation on the volvoxc forum & are apparently quieter than the Scorpions, with the slight oversize tyre keeping ride & alledgedly better grip.
We'll see!
