I have hired one of these for the weekend (TDCI hopefully) what are these like for munching the miles? and what sort of mpg can i expect, i've heard they're quite frugal.

I test drove one. Incredibly good ride / handling compromise. Ford are very good at this kind of stuff.

Interior is solid as a rock but still lacks that quality feel of the German stuff.

No idea about fuel economy I'm afraid.

I drove one last week for 60 odd miles. Not a great deal of grunt but beautifully balanced through the corners with little body roll. The following day I had a petrol Astra which really made the focus shine. The Focus was better in every department...performance, gearbox, seats, brakes interior.
In 60 miles the fuel gauge in the Focus barely moved

I test drove the 2.0 TDCi Titanium "Top of the range" Focus, tbh I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be so instead I bought a Fabia vRS and bearing in mind I can get Ford employee discount thats not a good review of how I found the car to drive. It cornered well as Foci do, but I didn't feel as much oooomph as I do in the Fabia and so I went for that. May be I was a little hasty in my decision making but it came down to the fact the Fabia made me smile more whilst driving it.
